Most homeowners wait until water is coming through or they see water stains on their ceiling before they pay attention to their roof. According to the National Roofing Contractors Association, homeowners should perform a regular roof inspection twice a year, in the spring and fall. Our expert team at Hernandez Roofing and Construction will come out and inspect your home's roof. Until then, homeowners should remove debris from rooftops, drains, gutters and downspouts, and at the same time, check for signs of damage. Here are a few things to look for that might indicate it is time for a new roof. 1. Start by taking a look in your home's attic. Look for beams of light that may be shining through or wet or stained spots. That could be a sign of a leaky roof. If you find any wet spots or stains contact Hernandez Roofing and Construction immediately and we will come give you are free inspection and estimate of your roof. 2. Take a look at your home's shingles, especially after strong storms. If you find patches that are cracked, damaged, or buckling, then repairs are in order. While you're at it, check the gutters and downspouts for shingle granules—a roof that is losing a lot of granules may be at the end of its useful life. 3. Don't panic.
Just because you have a few damaged shingles or a bit of a leak, don’t automatically assume that you need a whole new roof. If your roof has been properly installed and is younger than 15 or 20 years old, it may get by with repairs rather than a full replacement. Call us at Hernandez Roofing and Construction and we will come out and give you a free inspection. 706-847-0729
